Task 2 - Chosen 3 ideas

Idea 1 -

Online dating and people having different profile pictures to what they look like in real life.
Two peoples story of how they start talking and fall for each other but they don't know that each others profile pics aren't real so when they want to meet they are surprised  to see they look completely different.
I haven't really got an ending for this one yet. I don't know whether they should still like each other and chose to start again or if they don't like each now they know the truth.

Idea 2 -

A bigger girl is bullied because of her weight and that she likes to dance.
They are at a competition and the other contestants bully her before the show. Once she starts to dance, everyone is shocked to see she is really good.
I don't have an ending for this one either yet.
Does she not win but everyone boos until she does?
Does she dance funnily but everyone likes it and cheers her on?
Is there something magical about her.

Idea 3 -

A teenager trying to find herself going through different ideas.
Like:
Gothic
Geeky
Pefectionist
Chavy
Punk
Tomboy
Jock/Sporty
Indie/Multicultural
Hippie

She is in front of a mirror putting on the different clothes, until she finds herself.

Task 1 - Apple and Leaf (two objects hitting each other)

https://vimeo.com/113596208
This was my first attempt at my task 1 - Apple and leaf
Emily gave me feedback on this and i need to change it from portrait to landscape and to add some more apple frames as it falls too quickly.

Portraits

This was hard because i am not good with face proportions. I like the ones done in pen as i find pen easier to draw with.

Blue, Red, Square, Parrot Woman

In our class we each wrote down a colour, animal and gender. We were then given at random one of each and we had to draw what we had. This was mine.

Week 6: stopmotion reaction

About Quality
·         You must use a tripod – the camera must not jolt, if it does you need to start that shot again, or figure out a way to cut it out.
·         You must Control the lighting – light changes throughout the day, and it will show in your animations and look rubbish – so a dark room with controlled lighting is essential
·         Good lighting – you need to plan and think about the atmosphere, bad lighting can make a good puppet look terrible and visa versa.

Homework: Finish animating your reaction shot, blog about it with a link.

Week 6: Animatics and why?

Animatic is a filmed storyboard, timed out precisely to indicate the length of each shot, with rough sound (or finished sound). The idea is that the client (and you) can totally understand what will happen on screen, and get a feel for the production.

Example of a typical student short film animatic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXMwpDVPaLE

·    How does it work? You start with and idea or script and create a storyboard, then you scan to capture all your images so you have them digitally, then using a program begin to time out the storyboards, some images will be on for 2 frames whilst others will be on fro 10 frames. The sound can come first, during or after the process depending on what you are doing or your preference. Having the sound to start with does help figure out the timing.

Screening:

CGI Animated Short Making of 850 Meters - Storyboard/Animatic by - Thuristar Productions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXNkLk4pe5w

Previsualization (also known as pre-rendering)  is a function to visualize complex scenes in a movie before filming.

The Matrix Reloaded : previs - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMMeHPGV5VE

This animatic is a great example of how the VFX industry are mixing storyboarding with PreVis and concept art to visually explain the ideas to the client.

Emily tv paint example: How would we create this Miniion scene in
TV paint

Task: Using the soundtrack provided  work in pairs to create a short film idea, then using hand drawn or digitaly drawn create an animatic perfectly timed out to the soundtrack.
Homework: To finish the animatic

Week 5 - 11 Second Club

http://www.11secondclub.com/competitions/february10/entry/ItqJ2l

I picked this animation as i liked how it was 2D and sketchy at parts. I also like how it is black and white and the sketchy parts work well with this. There is also some exaggeration which makes the animation more entertaining.
