Innovative - Plan for Final Animation

Since last week we have decided to use a scene from the movie 'House of Wax'

The link below is a clip from the movie, which we want our project to be similar too. It shows the shape of the silhouette we want with a cape and hat and the play on lighting with the shadows.  It sticks to the Victorian era feel we want and so we decided this would be the best movie to base our animation on.

We also looked at scenes from the 'Hunchback of Notre Dame', specifically the part where the gypsy is running towards the church trying to claim sanctuary as Frollo chases her and then kills her. We thought the part where she is running towards the church would be good as an end scene to our animation as it is very dramatic and show the desperation of trying to get away.

We decided that we could edit together some of the chase scenes from the House of Wax and then cut them out. Bethany edited the scenes and this is what the final edit looks like and what the bases of our animation will be set on.

The man will be cut out in black card as he is a shadowy dark figure and we want to keep as a creepy mysterious figure.
The woman will be cut out in a grey card as we wanted her to be a different colour to the man as she would stand out more. we were going to chose pink but it would of been too much of a contrast as we wanted her to still be dark in the animation and not stand out too much

Idea Synopsis:
It will start with a shot of a lampost flickering, it will then cut to the woman who realises the murderer is in the room and screams. When then follow her as she jumps out of the window and down the building with shots of him chasing her. It then jumps from him and her as he chases her through the streets. She then runs up to a church (which is not in the movie) as she tries to escape. The camera will then pan up the church and then cut to the lampost from the introductory scene, where it will flicker again and then suddenly cut out. During this end scene she will be screaming to signify that the killer has captured and killed her. The camera would pan up the church and cut to a lampost flickering, like the introductory scene.

I then began to plan the layout. I watched the clip above a couple of times and noted when streets and scenes changed. I then drew a layout which would help when making the buildings and knowing how many buildings we needed and if we could recycle any.

After i had done this I started to figure out what images we would need to cut. I then exported the video as images, went through and decided which images we needed and split them in half so we had equal amounts to cut out.
