Animation Research and Practice - Week 6 - Production Schedules and Cross Disciplinary Research

This week we discussed production schedules and Cross platform referencing.

Production Scheduling -

Sam gave us some key points to think about when organising our work and time:

  • Where will my time be spent? most will be really time consuming?
  • What will I put off? So I can plan this in
  • Have deadlines
  • Be flexible in the schedule, not everything will go to plan.

Homework -

To create a production schedule for our work areas. I already have one in place and so will add to this and carry on with this.

Cross Disciplinary -

This when you remain rooted in you area of research but you use other fields to back up your findings and to better understand them

Inter Disciplinary -

This is where you use combine disciplines and move around them without being rooted to a specific one.

The above is good when something from a different field can back you up or is similar to what you are talking about and so you can use it to help your understanding.

How to structure an essay:

  • make a plan and stick to it
  • based on the plan work out what is missing from your arguments and find relevant data to fill in the gaps
  • keep it length appropriate
  • work this into the production schedule
  • rework your plan as needed

Ross's Lecture -

For Ross's lecture we continued to loo at how we can use other disciplines to better our work.
Trans disciplinary-
A practice that transcends disciplinary boundaries
Multi disciplinary-
Involves drawing appropriately from multiple disciplines to work on individual problems and redefine them to reach new solutions.

Reasons for researching outside of animation -
-Animation literature is a small and a developing field so there may not be a lot on one topic and so using other disciplines we can expand on our work.
-Adds validity to the argument
