3D Production - Research into the Industry

For this weeks homework we had to research a 3D character animator and then write about them and what we like about their animating.

I decided to research Andrew Chesworth.

His blog shows how it is important for teamwork and how you need to keep trying and get feedback off people and improve. This is show on some of his blog posts where he says that he has had help from other people to help with movements and making sure it looks good.

I like how he captures the personality of each character he animates. Each character is never the same and engages the audience.

This is from the scene above. I like the way he doesn't use lots of movement, he gets the emotion of being sad about being away from his family by a glance and then an eyebrow movement and eye dart, which is very effective.

Honey Lemon is one of my favorite characters from Big Hero 6 and I like how he has animated her in this test. She comes off as some who is intelligent, girly and a bit flamboyant and this is through the use of her eyes, becoming bigger and smaller and the way she is constantly moving, although this is not detracting it is all part of her character. I feel the below shots show this best.
