In this lecture we started off by discussing the presentation we have to present in the upcoming weeks. This is what we should include below.

Presentation -

  • talk about the essay topic : reflect on the topic, evaluation of the essay, talk about areas I couldn't research well, the resources I used, illustrate it, refer to quotes used in the essay and maybe the ones I didn't use.

We then went on to talk about Art, Science, Magic and Technology, discussing the evolution of technology, where it started and how and why it has changed over the years.

Some historical Perspectives:

  • technology continuum
  • art and science

It can argued that humans, even the very first humans, have always used the idea of movement in their art and images. This has been concluded through the study of many cave paintings, which have been drawn showing movement. It was a way of communicating stories and things that had happened to the masses, or large groups of people and the cave paintings are commonly found in large cavernous areas, where many people would be able to see it at once.

Throughout history there have been many advancements in technology, but these advancements only happened because of other advancements. Knowledge is built upon collaboration, where things advance together.

Many things we have today would not have happening if people hadn't o collaborated together and advanced on previous ideas,.

The above can be said fro the advancement into the moving image. It can be said it started with the pinhole image and the idea of projecting an image. This then advanced to become a magic lantern, which is a mechanical device that is used to create art and imagery, which then is used to amuse and entertain people.

In 1610 the first magical image machine was made, which was the opening for special effects. This was some of the first ideas for metamorphosis machine and the idea of changing and distorting a shaped.
